Our events feature free live music and dance performances, as well as a variety of free or low-cost educational and recreational activities for the entire family!
Welcome to the Orchard at Altapass, one of the Blue Ridge Parkway's most popular stops. The Orchard is a non-profit group that has worked tirelessly for over a quarter-century to "keep the good stuff"—regional customs, culture, and the land on which it all was created. We achieve this by cultivating the greatest heritage apples possible (with the fewest pesticides), establishing a pollinator-friendly environment, and offering educational and entertaining activities for people of all ages.
We welcome you to visit, but please don't leave without taking a stroll in the apple forest (no matter the season). Bring your appetites because the hot apple pie with hand-scooped ice cream will be served. Also, check out the Apple Core Grill, which is now open Wednesday through Sunday. On weekends, relax in our freshly remodeled pavilion and listen to live old-time music or dance a jig. Pick your own apples or buy them from our Apple Shed when they are in season (located behind the red barn on the "lower" level). And "heyrides" have returned.
